Rafael De Toledo states In his own words that "Fake Kingmaker shares a bilingual glimpse into the strange world of caregivers, game theory and small obsessions". Written, produced and recorded during his time as his mothers caregiver Rafa has created a body of work that envelops you in its mood. A smoky, beat filled syrupy gaze through the lens of an artist fighting mortality and the bitter contradictions that life has to give. 'Fake Kingmaker' would be comfortable as the soundtrack for a late night after hours comedown or as a surprise guest at your Berlin dinner party. Its claustrophobic atmosphere serves as a confessional of sorts, an earnest saloon stop at the crossroads of a true artist in every sense of the word. Rafa spits his poetic soothing vocal darts at the listener, accompanied by a brooding sound that envelops you in its ambition. We revel in its brilliance in spite of circumstance.
